We have manufactured a solution for EVO X owners that have experienced failures in the factory MIVEC exhaust cam gear housing after installing upgraded valve springs. It has been noticed over time that the stock cast aluminum housing will develop cracks in key areas that can cause a loss of MIVEC control when valve spring seat pressure is increased or during loss of oil pressure. By enlarging the overall diameter and CNC machining it from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, we have increased the overall strength of the piece, making it more resistant to failure.

Instructions

  • Use lube on all internal surfaces during assembly
  • Use Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 on bolts and torque to 100 in/lbs using a 5-point pentalobe T30 Torx bit
  • Install the retaining pin with an arbor press to a distance of ~ .425″ from the top of the pin to the suface of the MIVEC housing
